Make Local Friends helps people discover local places, culture and travel companions in Nepal. This policy explains how the website handles information when you browse, create an account, contact a Local Friend, submit a request or use community features.
Information we collect
- Account information, such as email address, one-time-password sign-in records, nickname, language and profile details.
- Information you submit in travel requests, applications, messages, reviews, reports and uploaded images. Do not submit passport numbers, bank details or other information that is not needed.
- Technical and usage information, such as approximate device type, page path, referrer and session timing, to operate and improve the service.
How we use information
- To provide sign-in, profiles, matching, messaging, moderation and requested services.
- To protect users, detect abuse, prevent spam and enforce the Terms of Service.
- To improve the website and understand aggregate usage when you allow optional analytics cookies/storage.
- To send transactional messages or service notifications that you request.
Sharing and service providers
We share information only as needed to operate the service, respond to your request, protect users, comply with law or complete a transaction you initiate. The current architecture may use Supabase for authentication and data storage, Resend for email delivery when configured, and Cloudflare Turnstile for spam prevention when enabled. These providers receive only the data needed for their function and are subject to their own terms and policies.
Cookies and local storage
Essential sign-in, app preferences and first-party analytics may use browser storage. The site does not show a separate cookie consent prompt. You can disable or clear browser storage in your browser settings; doing so may sign you out or reset preferences.
Retention and security
We retain information only for as long as needed for the purposes above, safety review, dispute handling and legal obligations. Private identity documents are intended for restricted review workflows; approved users should not upload unnecessary sensitive data. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so report suspected account or safety issues promptly.
Your choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or export personal information. Email 75104864@qq.com with the account email and request. We may need to verify identity before acting.
Children and changes
The service is not intended for children who cannot legally use it in their location. We may update this policy when the service changes. The effective date above will be updated when a material revision is published.
